Ever since I was small, I've loved telling stories of all kinds. I have always enjoyed writing (you can peek at my poetry here!) but as I got older, I found myself searching for a more sociable way of bringing my visions to life. In my teens I laid my hands on a second-hand camera, and everything fell into place.
My route into wedding photography was a bit of a winding road. Unable to compromise on my love of literature, I went to university for English Lit - though I spent most of my time taking photographs, and not enough of it reading Shakespeare. It was during this time that I shot my first wedding for a lovely local couple. When I finished my degree, I knew it was time to put down my pen and pick up my camera in earnest, and I've been doing this ever since...

A good day is like a good book. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end - but it's all the tiny moments in-between that make the narrative come together.
I believe that a good documentary photographer knows how to capture these in-between moments with sensitivity. They should be able to blend in with a crowd, chronicling the action as it unfolds without intervention or direction. It is a privilege to share in somebody's wedding, and this also means knowing when to take a step back and allow space for the emotional vulnerability such events open us up to.
Wedding photography demands more than pressing a button! It also means being a friendly, well-informed presence on your day who can help with timelines, lost shoes and crying kids. Kindness and compassion are at the forefront of what I do.
